Since 1954, Ma deuxième maison à moi (formerly the Association de la Rive-Sud pour la Déficience Intellectuelle) has been an important actor in its community, serving 211 families in the Montérégie and Montreal.
While our mission is to support families living with people who have an intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), we try to address their needs mainly by offering respite, a summer camp, an after-school daycare service, daytime activities on weekends, visual arts and yoga courses, and skill-maintenance activities for people aged 21 years and over, as well as other activities designed to help break their isolation.
Testimonials from several parents have confirmed that our resource, which offers a balance between work and family life, helps greatly and concretely to reduce their exhaustion and the major stress they face on a daily basis.
