The Montérégie Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (OSCM) dazzled music lovers during this concert on April 14 at the Maison symphonique de la Place des Arts.
The first part, Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto, was magnified by the grace of the dancers of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec (original choreography by Anne Dryburgh). Pianist Laurence Cossette, winner of the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy’s 2024 concerto competition, captivated the audience with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The first part concluded with Jean Sibelius’ powerful Symphony No. 1.
The 2nd part ended with a tribute to Sir Paul McCartney supported by the OSCM and its band. The choir of the Opéra Bouffe du Québec as well as the singer Simon Pierre joined the ensemble for a breathtaking finale.
